David, I like the variety of poses you're working from. They each have their own sense of gesture - from the extreme to subtle. Please continue to look for this. I think you're still being too careful around the contours after laying in a lighter foundation. Yes - the contour is important - but don't think it must be as contiguous - or connected - as you're making it. With hands, think about what you can describe with the thumb and index finger, then a more general rest of the fingers, rather than trying to delineate the entire hand. Sometimes, creating a more dynamic hand gesture yourself from memory can help a drawing, too.
